Expat Living Reader's Choice Awards

The results are in and so many of our brilliant customers voted for Wildlings we have been awarded the Silver Winner for 2021!

Expat Living Reader's Choice Awards Silver Winner

We're over the moon at Wildlings after being voted by you, our customers, as Singapore's second best provider of outdoor activities for children. We shared the podium with the Shangri-La's Splash Zone (Gold) and Bedok Reservoir's high ropes course Forest Adventure (Bronze).

Forest Adventure Bedok

We love both these places and are honoured (and not just a little surprised) to be included among them. You can find the list of all the winners across all categories here.

We will forever be grateful to all of you who voted for us in recognition of the hard work, passion, creativity and determination our staff have shown in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. We're on a mission to undo the harm of the circuit breaker and ongoing rules and regulations on our children in the safest way we can. But it goes further and deeper than just the impact of 2020 on our children. Over the last three decades children have had progressively less time to play outdoors, fewer inspiring outdoor spaces to explore freely and fewer adults willing or able to facilitate their child's time outdoors. Fears over safety, a focus on intellectual ability, urbanisation, population growth and our ever busy lifestyles are to name but a few factors that contribute to the problem. The Covid-19 pandemic has purely been an accelerator. The costs of deteriorating outdoor playtime in green spaces for children include increasing myopia, obesity, poor mental health and a lack of care and respect for our planet.

If we are to protect our children's mental health, foster their physical wellbeing and inculcate a respect for life and the planet we depend upon then we need to all get outdoors and play and put our own agendas, fears and the rule book on the shelf for a while.

We will be working hard every single day this coming year to deserve your votes, to continually improve our programmes and our nature space, and to get more people outdoors.

About Claire

Claire is an environmental scientist by training and an environmental sustainability consultant and educator by trade (aside from being a busy mum to two young (and sometimes wild) children). Claire enjoyed a very outdoorsy childhood collecting acorns, making daisy chains and sifting dirt to get the perfect pile. Once upon a time Claire was an enthusiastic ultimate frisbee player and recently taught pre-school sports classes. Claire is on a mission to help City kids experience a wilder childhood through the Forest School approach to learning and founded Wildlings offering outdoor activities for children and families in Singapore to do this.
