Part B: Acknowledgement of Inherent Risks
Outdoor education takes place in natural environments that carry inherent risks which cannot be entirely eliminated without undermining the educational value of the experience.
By signing this form, the Organisation acknowledges that participation in Wildlings programmes may involve exposure to risks including, but not limited to:
• Insect or wildlife encounters (bites, stings)
• Falls, slips and trips on uneven or wet terrain
• Minor cuts, scratches or abrasions from natural materials
• Contact with plants that may cause skin irritation
• Burns from supervised cooking fires
• Injuries from age-appropriate tool use under supervision
• Weather-related risks (heat, rain, humidity, storms)
• Injuries from loose parts play equipment or natural materials
These risks are managed through Wildlings' safety procedures but cannot be completely eliminated. Risk is an integral part of outdoor learning and supports children's development of confidence, resilience and physical competence.
