An Example Day at Camp
Treat your children to a refreshing break from the indoors! Just like our Forest School programmes our outdoor adventure camps are guided by the interests of the children themselves. We provide a wide variety of experiences for the children to choose from and the table below provides an example of the kinds of things your child will be doing at camp. We never force participation, and we know how and when to carefully expand comfort zones. Our skilled instructors will be flexible and plan experiences based on the interests of their unique group of children. .
We will be exploring exciting collaborations with organisations who share our ethos and excel in inspiring and connecting children to the energy of the natural world around them. Collaborations will foster holistic development and wellbeing and will help us to deliver calmer, happier and healthier children at the end of our camp (marshmallows excluded!).
What about Covid-19?: Please see our Communicable Diseases Policy and rest assured that we will adhere to all government requirements for your child's safety.
How about wet weather? Wildlings @ Dempsey; 27A Loewen Road, is part of the larger Core Collective fitness and wellness hub. In our nature space we have plenty of shelter from wet weather (and we encourage the children to play in the rain!) but lightning is a serious threat in our tropical environment so we take shelter at the main pavilion or building if needed. Please see our Adverse Weather Policy for more information.
Do you provide food and drinks? We do not provide food for snack time at the moment, however, we might roast sweetcorn on the campfire or bake jacket potatoes for example. We often hunt fo salad ingredients or ingredients for making drinks from our gardens. So please provide your child's dietary requirements when booking and always send them to camp with a substantial snack and full water bottle. We have chilled drinking water at Core Collective. by the ladies bathrooms so please fill water bottles before camp (we can refill at break time).
How will you divide the children into groups? Each group will comprise the number of children permitted by the government, up to a maximum of 8. Children will be split into age groups, existing friendships play a part, as does gender so please email us if you would like your child to be placed with a friend. Although we can usually accommodate requests for one child to be placed with another one or two, we can't guarantee it.
Child to staff ratio For children aged 4 to 6 years old the ratio is six children to one instructor. For children aged 7 yrs and older the ratio is eight children to one instructor. There is also a Camp Director and extra trained staff for campfire and tools experiences. Collaborators are additional to Wildlings staff.
What about safe distancing? children are spaced apart when stationary (i.e. when eating) and individual groups will also be using different zones at different times. Our space is large and outdoors so distancing is entirely possible, We will likely bring all groups together onto our grasslands for some fun and games, whilst keeping the groups apart. We will work hard to both maintain a distance, yet help the children to feel part of a larger community. We will relax restrictions if allowed.
Face coverings: Face coverings will be removed when undertaking physical exercise and during snack time. Face coverings can also obscure the vision, so when we are undertaking throwing and catching; obstacle courses, balancing, climbing, etc masks will also be removed for safety reasons and children will maintain a safe distance. Our space is well ventilated, being the great outdoors! Please provide all face coverings inside labelled Ziploc bags. Staff will sanitise their hands immediately if helping a child with their mask or shield. Children under the age of 6 do not need to wear a face covering. We will remove the requirement for children to wear face coverings if allowed.
What should we pack in our child's bag? A good-sized snack, a generously sized drinking water bottle, a spare set of clothes, a small towel, mosquito repellant (apply before camp please), hat, (apply sunscreen before camp please), a spare face shield or mask. (in a Ziploc bag). All items with a label, please.
What should our child wear? Long sleeves, long trousers, closed shoes, and socks, please. Ideally, old clothes loosely fitting, easy to change that you are happy to get mucky. There are also plenty of opportunities to get wet so a change of clothes is essential. We will help younger children who need help to change.
What about dengue? Currently, our site is not located inside a dengue cluster and the Dengue situation is currently under control n Singapore. As a nature space, with jungle bordering two sides and our own slice of the jungle, mosquitoes are inevitable so please dress your child in loose clothing covering arms and legs and apply mosquito repellant and pack this in their bags. We are very actively tackling the mosquitoes on all fronts to make our nature space a safe and pleasant place to be. With tenants now in the large adjacent building with regular fogging we expect the mosquito situation to continually improve.
Can you accommodate children with special needs? We have in the past been able to accommodate children with mild special needs at camp but please do seek advice from us first before booking to be sure we can provide your child with the care necessary. We are happy to book children with special needs in in advance to secure places for them and to allow parents to contact us before bookings open.
Pick-up and drop-off is at our premises in Dempsey. The address is 27A Loewen Road, Singapore, 248839. We occupy part of the Core Collective fitness and wellness hub. The location boasts an excellent cafe, pizza restaurant, Swish swimming pool, fitness and wellness services and the nearby Trimmings Spa. You can find our gate at the end of the car park, past the Swish Swimming and towards the large trees.
If the car park is busy we recommend parking outside 71 & 72 Loewen Road around the corner or the car park at the recreation ground across the road may be open.
Terms and Conditions
Please ensure that you have signed our drop-off waiver before camp.
Refund and Cancellations:
a) An amount equal to 97% of the camp fee will be refunded if written withdrawal is received at least 14 days before the commencement of the camp. Alternatively, as long as withdrawal is received at least 14 days prior to camp we would be happy to give you a full credit to be used against future camp bookings, to be used within 12 months of the date of issuance, which provides you with priority booking. No full or partial refunds will be given for cancellations received within 14 days of the commencement of the camp, except for cancellations due to reasons set out in clauses b, c, or d below.
b) If the child is unable to attend camp due to sickness or injury (in either case, supported by a medical certificate) 50% of the camp fee will be refunded upon receipt of the medical certificate as long as notice is submitted at least 48hrs in advance of the start of camp (camp starts at 9.00am on Monday).
c) If a child becomes sick or injured within 48hrs of the start of camp, and before the camp commences, a credit will be issued in the value equal to 50% of the original registration cost, upon receipt of a medical certificate.
d) If a child falls sick during camp then no credit or refund will be given as it will be impossible to find a replacement for the camp, however, you may transfer the place to a friend.
e) We reserve the right to cancel any camp due to insufficient numbers. Parents will be notified at least 7 days prior to the commencement of the camp and a full refund of the camp fee will be provided.
f) We make every effort to ensure that the children have a great time on camp. We receive many messages from satisfied parents. From time to time, however, a child may be withdrawn from the camp by their parents because they are not enjoying the camp or the camp does not meet the expectations of the parents. Please talk to us if this is the case and we will try our best to resolve any issues. However, no refunds will be made if a parent willingly withdraws a child from camp early.
g) There are no refunds for campers expelled for inappropriate behavior. Inappropriate behavior includes fighting, bullying, aggressive or inappropriate behavior towards either the camp leaders or another camper, vandalism, stealing, repeatedly displaying an uncooperative attitude or disrespect for others, running away from the leaders and/or any other action that in the Camp Director’s opinion threatens the health, safety, or well-being of any person, or the operation of the Camp. Under most circumstances, campers and their parents will be warned if their behavior is unacceptable and will be given a chance to improve and change. However, if the behavior is, in the opinion of the Camp Director, too severe, they will be asked to leave camp.
When making your booking the primary customer is named, as well as an emergency contact, and we assume that one or the other will be dropping off and collecting the child.
If another person will be collecting your child please WhatsApp their name and telephone number to 8875 5919 by 11am so that we can ensure that your child is released into the care of the correct person. We may call you to confirm if we are in any way uncertain of the authority of a person to collect your child from camp.
Please remember that the drop-off time is 9am and the collection time is 12.30pm. There is a 10-minute grace period but please do not be late to collect your child as this has a knock-on effect on staff, camp planning and may cause anxiety in children.
Please ensure that your child’s belongings have their name on them. We will do our best to keep their things together, but Wildlings accepts no responsibility for lost or damaged property.
By booking a camp, the guardian or parent of the child agrees to the following:
“I permit any photos, taken at Wildlings, 27A Loewen road, to be used by Wildlings for promotional purposes unless I have provided word in writing explicitly stating that I do not consent.
This includes photographs or digital images, audio visual, sound or digital recordings of the child(ren) participating in the camp for media or promotional releases or articles, including newspapers, radio, television or printed publications relating to Wildlings or its activities, electronic publications and communications such as the Wildlings website, newsletters, or social media pages including Facebook and Instagram.”
To protect the privacy of the children, we will never name children in captions on media online, all photographs are checked for appropriateness and used within context.
If you do not consent, please message +65 8157 0533 with written withdrawal of consent and we will not take photographs of your child.
Accuracy of information
You confirm that all information provided in the online form and in other forms of written communication to Wildlings is accurate and complete and that there is no missing information regarding your child which could affect the smooth running of the camp, including the safety of all participants.
